The Cumberland Business Connector, in partnership with a number of organizations throughout the region and the province, is pleased to offer a number of programs aimed at supporting businesses and creating an environment that is conducive to economic growth.

Business Development Support

The Cumberland Business Connector supports current and prospective entrepreneurs, business owners and managers by actively listening to businesses, being their voice, helping them remove or navigate barriers, and connecting them to the services, tools and resources that they need to be successful.

We offer a wide variety of programs, free-of-charge, such as:

Employer Immigration Navigation Program

The Employer Immigration Navigation Program supports Cumberland businesses who are experiencing labour market shortages and are interested in learning how immigration can be part of their solution.

We take a customized one-on-one approach to understand the particular needs of a business.From there, we are able to provide navigation of the Nova Scotia Nomination Program (NSNP) and the new permanent Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) to assist businesses in hiring international talent.​

Business Accelerator Program

The Business Accelerator Program is designed to support growing and high-growth-potential businesses in the Cumberland County region through business counselling, mentorship, and supporting resources. 

The program format and duration varies depending on the needs assessment of each individual business, however all iterations of the program require a high level of involvement and commitment from business owners/management.

Mind Your Business Workshop Series

The Town of Amherst, in partnership with the Amherst and Area Chamber of Commerce, CBDC Cumberland, the Cumberland Business Connector and the Town of Oxford, launched the Mind Your Business Cumberland workshop series in the fall of 2020.

“Mind Your Business" is a series of workshops designed to give business owners and professionals an opportunity to expand their knowledge on a number of topics that will help them improve their businesses and accelerate growth.

Northern Connector Program

The Northern Connector Program connects community and business leaders of Cumberland County (Connectors) with newcomers & recent international and local graduates (Connectees) in their industry. ​
